“Creating no small stir and division among the people.”
Those words from Joseph Smith History weighed on my heart this time around.
Joseph Smith described what caused the division, “good feelings […] being lost in strife of words and contests of opinions.”
The problem was people cared more about their opinions than their neighbors.
We need less contests of opinions and more love without condition.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have and share our opinions!
But these people let their love get lost in their opinions—and we must let our love be the foundation of our opinions.
For “it is by union of feeling we obtain power with God.” (Joseph Smith).
Surely, we need that power now more than ever.
By union of feeling we obtain power with God
Joseph Smith
