A ceramics teacher divided his students into two groups—one, he said, would be graded on the quantity of work they produced, and the other would be graded on the quality of work they produced.
When grading time came, something surprising happened: the highest quality work was created by the group being graded on quantity.
It quickly became apparent that while the quality group tried to create one, grand piece, the quantity group was churning out work and, little by little, learning from their mistakes, they created masterpieces.
I was reminded of this story as I read D&C 64:33, “Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.”
Small things, done consistently, bring the work of God to Earth.
You may feel like you are just churning pots.
And making mistakes over and over while you are at it.
But the Teacher knows what He is doing.
In the process, little by little, you will learn and grow.
Laying the foundation for a great work.
It’s all part of the process of creating a masterpiece.
